Mucky audio for an ultramatrix. Solid show by 1988 standards.
Weirdly lacking in Bobby presence during first set. Jerry's voice sounded good throughout this tour. First set kinda fizzles without anything like a 'Bird Song' or a 'Cassidy' to take them to that place for a few minutes before the break.
Second set is mostly noteworthy for the 'Victim' / 'Foolish Heart' combo finally beginning to migrate out of first sets, and finally with a sense that they have these songs figured out after so many practice-ish runs through them earlier in 1988.
But compare this show with the show that happened exactly a year later, and then let's talk. Hence my three stars. The band had a LOT left in them at this point, and proof would soon be forthcoming ....

Both of these shows were tons of fun. Small venue, on St. Pete Beach, the Dead were in high spirits and in fine form.
One of the sweetest versions of Box of Rain to open the second set.
Shows are on YouTube if you google them.

Not too Weir'd.
Only 5 Bob songs, and 2 of them were Dylan. 3.0-star Swami rating, and would have been 2.5 if not for the nice Watchtower-Dew set ender. Victim into Foolish was such a great combo in retrospect, even though at the time people didn't fully appreciate it.

Victim of the Times
This is the "Patience runs out on the Bunny!" show-in protest to all the Flac he got for the use of the dreaded "J-Word" or "J-Bomb" if you prefer. I don't. People at the time were bothered by the tune because it wasn't a Soft Rainbow Cloud Frosted with Sunflakes. But neither was the world at the time so get over yourself is what I say. More of a Grimy Spike in the Eargut Under a Gunmetal Acidcloud Sky. Became a truly giganteously menacing epic in later years. Good show occasionally graceful.

Grate show. Grate sound. If it says Charlie Miller it's good. If you haven't checked out Ekoostik Hookah grab 2-10-01, 6-30-07, 10-19-07 and 3-28-08. These guys will rock your ass off.
